Peter DeLaurier as The Librarian |
The Lantern Theater Company,
located in St. Stephen’s Church theater, 10th and Sansom Streets, is
presenting a new production of its 2004 Barrymore Award-Winning play Underneath
the Lintel through December 6 under the direction of Kathryn MacMillan.
Peter DeLaurier gives an astounding performance as he reprises his Barrymore
Award winning performance as The Librarian. In an effort to solve the mystery of
how a library book was returned to the library after a period of 113 years, he
dutifully collects clues left by the original borrower of the book, A., h appily picturing the fine that might
be collected. What ensues is a fascinating journey that takes the librarian crisscrossing
the world collecting evidences in London, China, New York and Australia. DeLaurier
is masterful in relating this intriguing tale, connecting the dots, following
the mysterious borrower’s journey and his message of “I am here,” echoing with
a similar heart-rending message of his own. He is magnificent in the role of
The Librarian who is a lost soul, wandering the world in search of something
that remains just beyond his grasp, while mirroring the very object he is
searching for. For more information or tickets, call 215-829-0395 or visit
